Sino Saves the Day

Imagine your wedding day. You have 60 guests for the dinner reception and learned your caterer is not catering. A nightmare, right?

Welcome to Morgan Hazelwood and Josh Perritt's nightmare.

But thanks to some members of the family, the wedding party and The Spaghetti House at Lansdowne and George streets the night was saved. Here's the story.

Morgan and Josh were married at Lang Village on Saturday, Oct. 1. Following the traditional wedding photos the wedding party and guests went to the reception hall at Immaculate Conception Church in East City where they were expecting to see the caterer or at least some food.

Wrong!!! She didn't show up, the tables were bare. "I couldn't believe it," said the young bride. Panic set in but the groomsmen Dave Ackison, Jay Patrick, Brian Stinenberg, Bobby Perritt, Chris Thompson and Mike Latham paired up and went in cars searching for a restaurant that might help. They weren't having much luck.

Meanwhile the bridesmaids, Andrea Frost, Maggie Doucette, Mandy Fisher, Amanda Miller, Robyn Perritt, and Torie Hogan, and the mothers Mary Foster and Tammy Perritt got into the kitchen and began making sandwiches.

Josh's dad Roy Perritt got a big barrel of Tim Horton's coffee "If I hadn't had them, honest to God, I think I would have had a breakdown." Two of the tuxedo-wearing groomsmen finally hit pay dirt at the Spaghetti House. They were standing in line when another customer Brian Davies, who owns the Go Shop on Park St., overheard their predicament and called the chef Ilir Sino got the crew together and start cooking the food for this event.

The night was saved. She has never heard from the caterer but she has a positive spin for her happy day.

Sure there was panic, but "it was all for the best because everyone came together." And they had enough food for everyone, even those who came to the dance.
